Rajendra Pachauri, the embattled chairman of the UN’s Nobel prize-winning climate change panel, lashed out on Wednesday at his critics, whom he accused of engaging in “skulduggery of the worst kind” in an effort to stall international action to combat climate change.
Mr Pachauri told the Financial Times on Wednesday that a flurry of recent criticism of the 2007 report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change – and attacks on his own probity – were “carefully orchestrated” by those who deny the impact of human activity on the earth’s climate, and corporate interests who fear that tough action to battle global warming will threaten their profitability.
